As a scholar of Orphan Wisdom School  I am learning what it takes to become a human being. I am learning to whom I belong. Through intense scholarship, deep consideration, searing ceremonies, and demanding articulation expectations, in real time, my humanity is growing and just beginning to eclipse the collusion with illusion that has disguised itself as a culture. This is not a psychological, spiritual, vocational, sociological, or biological endeavor. It is not a feel good excursion. This is cultural, in a way I never understood cultural before. We belong to each other and our ultimate purpose is to serve this belonging, however grief soaked and orphaned we truly are. Orphan Wisdom School redeems my humanity from the cultural syndrome of deep despair and existential impotence. I am learning I am needed, I have been dreamed, I am the past generations’ latest best hope for redemption. Muriel McMahon, Old Woman’ People, Oct 18, 2013
