I was gathered into something that came to be called ‘men’s work’ in the 1980’s. I came to know a number of the luminaries in that work over the years, and now have lived long enough to see those ranks thinned out by death and infirmity. The men stepping forward in their stead do so a bit unsteadily it seems, with a sense that the stakes are high and the fields are fraught and the way is unclear and the politics are mean in spirit. They’re right.

I’m participating in the Calling All Men Summit, with those men in mind, maybe for their sakes.
