When first we contemplated the making of a school for learning in real time, for elders in training, for those who will despite all cyphering fail to live forever, we laughed at ourselves: Why would anyone come to a school that promises no enlightenment, no empowerment, no personalized transmission from the great beyond, no instruction for the inner child, no continuing ed credits? Why would they come to a staggering little farm tucked into a sandy wrinkle between an iron rich river and a stoney upheaval hoping still to become a mountain, camp in the dewy fields, eat under all manner of weather, after hours of harangue and exhortation that goes deep into the night?

Well, we are still not certain why you came, but come you did. And so the brave little barque of that first Orphan Wisdom School class has made a few offspring, several have met here along the shores of Abundance and Time and two of them on the other side of the continent under tall eagle-tipped fir trees that line the northern pacific coast line.
Over the years we’ve offered six classes of the Orphan Wisdom School. Now is the time to invite the good People of Mountain Longing to join the fine folk gathered under People of the Big Tent. That is where our learning together will begin to be tethered to something vast and thrilled with purpose.
