Hard on the heels of the release of Come of Age, I was awash in the murk of hostile reviews, willful misrepresentations in the Opinionfest, and more than a little of my own deal-making with the Fates regarding whether I’d done my best and done well by the subject at hand. And, give or take a dozen exceptions, I’d not taught this material before. In the midst of all of this, an invitation came in to talk about it all in Victoria. A hall was rented, a film crew requisitioned, unsuspecting representatives of the general public commandeered for the event. And away we went.
For a time, I’ve agreed to have sales of the session through this website go to benefit the social justice work of RAVEN Trust. RAVEN raises legal defence funds to assist Indigenous Peoples who enforce their rights and title to protect their traditional territories. The organizers of the event and producers of the recording too have given over any material benefit that arises to RAVEN for the duration of this arrangement. Together we’d ask you to consider the dilemmas and mandates of Elderhood and to benefit indigenous land rights work as you do so, by lending a few sheckles to the cause. ~ Stephen Jenkinson
All proceeds from the sale of this item from now until November 1st, 2019 to be donated to RAVEN Trust.
