Shakespeare was keen on doing in all the lawyers. But for some of the old Greeks, and most of the world’s despots, it’s been the artists, the poets. Poetry’s usually been an outsider’s racket.  When it’s good, it’s edgy business. Saints, fury, eloquence and troubled times: a good round up of suspects. They’re what I’m going across some holy ground to meet.

Here’s a sample of what we’ll get up to:
Thinking of art, of poetry – They might be many things: a moral code/a rumour; an affliction/an assignment; a citadel/a suburb; a demigod/a demon; dedication/decree.
Are they a democracy, though? Are their borders open? Does everyone get in? Would we be better off if they did?
