Prophetics
In these days I have seen the llamas sicken with the mules, no longer on guard, and haciendas melting in the heat.
In these days I have seen machines driving machines, with people looking on, desperate to get in.
In these days I have seen the money burn, and the ocean making ready to rise up and over the old breakwaters, the tides of the tropics unbroken.
In these days I have seen my childrens’ near future, that which might make us unrecognizable one to the other.
These are stranger days, it’s true.
You might think heaven has it in for us, after those ages of our palms up protestations.
With these goings on, who among us would be unforgiven for wondering what in this world might need some other sounding or screed or stipulation about love. Of all things. Now.

As without, so within: the old once lived that way. The young counted on them to do it.

The mind can overheat with the friction of fret. It often goes its own way. But you can decide what your heart is taken up with, what you might lend it to.
I have been taken up in travel again, making ready for the interviews and the Caldera tour, now begun in a town whose English name is Holy Faith. A Night of Grief and Mystery about the adult confines of ordinary love: that’s our mission this time.
There’s a line in one of the songs: The heart’s like the world now. It’s not what it was.
There’s no automatic catastrophe in that. It could mean that the distance between the heart and the O My Godness of another day is closing, that we no longer have to go out into the storm for the heart’s work to be done.

A month or more ago I was packing for two months on the road. I stood there at the closet door, looked at all the old stagewear, and then saw that, no, this tour wouldn’t be like the others. It would need a new skin. The bones of its old ceremony would have to show.
Come lift the veil with us. Come lend the gift of your evening to a Nights of Grief and Mystery. Come reckon a while with us from the edge of love.
